June Meeting
Thursday, June 5, 2008

At the June meeting the Club presented a quilt and pillow custom designed and  handmade by Cindy Halle to the Cho family, George, Fay, Christopher and Courtney. Rick Jacoby spoke of the path the family took from German Shepherds to their current St. Bernard, Cappuccino (Cappy for short). Although not club members, the Cho family is a staunch supporter of DOCOT, repeatedly demonstrated by the many dogs of theirs that have come through the Novice class and then continued on into the weekly workshop. Over the years the Cho's have recommended the novice class to many friends and family.

The Cho's thanked DOCOT for their support, attributing some of Cappuccino’s remarkable successes in Obedience, Junior Handling and the breed ring to what she learned at our club. Fay and Cappy earned the Companion Dog degree with all First Place finishes and High in Trial. Christopher and Cappy qualified in Junior Handling and showed at both the Eukanuba National in Long Beach and the Westminster Kennel Club.

Congratulations to the Cho family, and good luck with their soon to be new family member, another St Bernard puppy that will be named Biscotti!!!! We look forward to working with Biscotti in the near future.

Annual Christmas Party

The theme was EAT, DRINK, and BE MERRY

To accomplish this, Club members and friends (Melody, Bob, Amy, Joan, Rick, Tammy, Maria and Cindy) met at Mimi's Café in Torrance for DOCOT's annual Holiday Party on December 12. While the major activities keep everybody busy, there was time to take a few pictures.

An annual tradition at the party is the Holiday Boot. Though it wasn't on the table that night, at the January meeting, club members will have the opportunity to contribute to Guide Dogs of America by placing their donation in the Holiday Boot. DOCOT will match all funds collected and send the donation into the Guide Dogs of America Organization.
